As mentioned, you will not find a code reader that works with the Ford Probe. If your car starts from cold, the CPS is working, it’s only required for start up. Hi, if it’s cutting out when the fan kicks in, then I would say that you need a new distributor. When the car warms up, there is something in the distributor that then goes faulty. Code 12 indicates a power supply issue,
How is the battery in the car?
Are you able to put a meter to the incoming battery supply?

You can't plug it in. More than likely it'll be a faulty abs module, which is a blue box under the dashboard, if the back of your head was resting on the accelerator pedal, move a bit of trim you'll see it. The CPS plug is a grey plug near the oil dip stick, it goes down to the Crank Position Sensor (CPS), sometimes the connections can go high resistance, pull the plug apart, give it a blow and try again. replacing just the cap and arm isn't enough, you need to replace the whole dizzy with a known good one.
Does your car still use a fob for the immobiliser?
Does the car start, then stop when warm
Have you checked the CPS plug, pull it apart, clean and plug back together again
